A Brief Review from Event Management and Media Perspective

Azuh Arinze, a seasoned journalist who made his mark in the entertainment section of the media recently launched his highly publicised and anticipated book titled “The CEO Bible”. The event took place precisely on March 24, 2017 at Kofo Abayomi Street, Lagos.

But this review is not to highlight the content of the book, how good it is or how fantastic the cover is (great cover by the way); that has already been done marvellously at the launch by Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, the book reviewer.

This write-up is, however, to bring to the fore specifics everyone ignores at such events. Book launch normally by most standards are considered to be dull and anti-exciting events. The CEO Bible launch became an exception to this perception with several distinctions from the norm in Nigeria.

First distinction: The CEO Bible was published and launched in two volumes (volume one and two). In other words the launch was for two books, one in red cover while the other was in blue cover.

Second distinction: The event was to start by 11am and surprisingly it started by 11am, don’t pinch yourself. For emphasis the event took place in Nigeria.

Third distinction: The date for the launch was also the date for the author’s birthday. Two symbolic events for one date, talk about killing two birds with one stone. So for every congratulatory pleasantries from people, Azuh might be tempted to ask for which event. There was ‘lunch’ after the ‘launch’ because it was also a birthday celebration with a huge cake and party scenario to spice the event(s).

Forth distinction: The hall was filled with achievers from all walks of life such as: politics, private sector, entertainment, media and many others. The faces and names in the entertainment industry that graced the launch would humble even ‘One Lagos carnival’ with huge array of stars.

Entertainment: Alibaba, Gbenga Adeyinka, Koffi, TA, Mandy, Ajayi Lycent, Onyeka Onwenu, Adewale Ayuba, Saint Obi, Azeezat, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Zeb Ejiro, Chico Ejiro, Felix Duker and amongst others.

Media: Bisi Olatilo, Larry Izamuje, Steve Babaeko, Ikem Okuhu, Chris Kehinde Nwadu, Goddie Ofose, Brandfit.com Senior Partner, Anthony Elikene with many others seated at different part of the large hall.

Political and traditional representation: HRH Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi (represented by Dr. Dakuku Peterside), Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, Otunba Dayo Adeneye, Femi Adesina, Hon. Tunde Braimoh, Mr. Steve Ayorinde and Dr. Muiz Banire.

Clerics such as Apostle Anselm Madubuko, Bishop Isaac Idahosa and Evangelist Myke Ikoku were also at the event to offer support.

Fashion designer, Emeka Opara, was also one of those from the creative and corporate section at the event. The crème de la crème in every field were present.

The guests had all the side attractions they could ask for as networking was impulsive with stars and celebrities seated amongst the audience blending with everyone without bouncers to restrict people from meeting and making friends. Most of the security operatives were strategically stationed outside the hall.

At the end of the double celebration many left the venue reluctantly with some asking if Azuh Arinze would publish ‘The CEO Bible’ volume 3 and 4 on his birthday next year. This was not a show, this was an exceptional book launch that could easily attract willing gate fee payments from guests; but good things in life are truly free.
